What is Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave Therapy is a physical therapy modality that involves sending high frequency sound waves into the body. It is often used for tendonitis, calcifications, shin splints, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and bursitis. It is aimed at pain relief, inflammation reduction and thus repairs the injured soft tissue. Shockwave Therapy works at a deeper level than therapeutic ultrasound, and can be used to break down calcification and scar tissue.

Akash graduated with her Bachelor of Physiotherapy Degree in 2010 and then completed Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma in 2012. She has recently moved from Saskatchewan and comes with 8 years of strong clinical experience treating a multitude of conditions. Akash is an avid learner. Since graduation, she has completed many postgraduate certificate courses including Mulligan concept of manual therapy techniques, McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, Manual therapy courses, Dry Needling/IMS, Vestibular and Pelvic floor Rehabilitation. She has completed Level II Upper Quadrant Certification from the National Orthopedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association to enhance her manual therapy skills. She as obtained Level 1 Acupuncture Certification through Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute.
Akash enjoys treating all types of musculoskeletal injuries/conditions, pre and post surgical conditions, Dizziness, Vertigo, Balance, Concussion and Vestibular dysfunctions. She has a special interest in treating Women’s health / Pelvic floor conditions including Coccydynia (Tailbone pain), Incontinence (Stress, Urge, Mixed), Prolapse, and Pelvic pain conditions. Akash has a passion for helping people while empowering them to contribute to their own healing. She believes in patient specific treatment plans and has a strong emphasis placed on patient education, manual therapy and exercise prescription. She takes the time to find the root cause of a problem and creates a plan to address her client’s immediate concern as well as enhance daily living after rehabilitation and prevent recurrences. Akash loves listening to music, reading and travelling around the world.
